Teacher Resource Center, LLC opened it’s doors in July of 2008. The teachers and staff are dedicated to the education of students and all fellow teachers.
The Owner - Lindy Hopkins
Hello, my name is Lindy Hopkins. Welcome! I own and run my company: Teacher Resource Center, LLC. I want to take a few minutes of your time to tell you a little about myself and why I started this company.
I have taught for thirty years. During those thirty years, I have taught all subjects in the first, fourth, and fifth grades. For three years of fifth grade, I taught inclusion and five years of fourth and fifth grade I taught intellectually gifted. I have taught remedial math for grades two through six and have also taught seventh grade math. I have even taught tenth grade World History and believe it or not I was a high school band director!
Throughout these adventures, one thing has always remained true; many students are not ‘traditional’ students. Many students need more individualized help in order to succeed. Now that I am retired, my goal is to provide for these students. This is how the Teacher Resource Center, LLC was born!
I purchased a quaint little building in the heart of Saltillo, MS and recruited the very best teachers in the area. The next step for me was to make our services less costly than our competitors. We want to reach all students and teachers. Not just the wealthy ones! A little comparison work will prove that our prices are well below our competitors.
Since we have the very best teachers on hand, I depend on them to design the lessons specifically for each child. Here is the secret to our success: No “canned” programs and No testing except at the parents request. I believe the main reason teachers do not have the time required to educate a child is because of testing requirements. I see teachers in public education required to spend more time testing than teaching. My company believes you should see an improvement in your child’s grades and your child’s confidence. Not just test scores. We have seen results! For every student we have had a privilege to help, 100% have improved their grades. Not only have they improved, but they improved within two weeks or less!
Now let me tell you a little about our services we offer for students and teachers.
Consulting In 1999, I was awarded the “Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics”. With this honor came a week of intense mathematics training in our nation’s capital: Washington D.C. In 2005, I was fortunate in having been selected to serve as Mississippi’s “Teacher of the Year”. This was an honor and it allowed me to travel to many various places in the USA. I learned from the “Best of the Best” so to speak. I tested in Princeton, NJ and studied science at Huntsville’s Space Camp. The bottom line is: I was given great staff development opportunities. Looking back, I was saddened that not all teachers have these opportunities and are not exposed to these types of trainings. Therefore, I offer my experiences as well as those of many great teachers here to any and all who ask by way of consulting.
National Board Re-Certification In 1998 and then again in 2007, I certified in “Middle/Childhood Generalist” through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. For ten years I mentored candidates seeking National Board Certification through The World Class Teaching Program both at The University of Mississippi and Mississippi State University. After re-certifying, I realized a need for mentoring in these areas as The World Class Teaching Program did not offer mentoring. We offer mentoring for National Board Re-Certification in-house at our store on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30pm until 8:30pm. We also offer mentoring online for those that cannot make it to our store in the evenings or for those that are not local to our community.
Counseling A very good friend of mine, Paula Cox, has helped me through the years counseling students when needed. She has been kind enough to make herself and an associate available for counseling outside the school setting. We offer these services in house and now online.
Art There are many great artists and many great art teachers who have had zero educational training. But, there is a need for classically trained artists and teachers in the Saltillo area. Again, I have chosen those that are well educated and have a gift of working with children. We offer individual and group classes.
